Woody

Now if you want a pretty horse that is kind, gentle and safe, we recommend Woody.  Woody is an 11 year old gelding that stands 15 1 hands.  His ground manners are excellent and he is a joy to ride and work around. Woody will also wear an English saddle well, but his training and his ability goes western style.  We recommend Woody for anyone that want a beautiful nice horse. He has been on some good long trail rides and is safe and fun to ride.

 Jensen

This horse is an 11 year old gelding that stands 15 1 hands and is one of the safest horses we have had.  His attitude is absolutely amazing.  He will go english or western, wear any bit, and be completely accommodating to his riders.  This is such a nice horse that you can get on him in the pasture with a halter and lead rope and ride him anywhere.  He just wants to be a good horse and loves people. He is easy to catch a delight to work on the ground and a general family great trail horse. This is a good grandchild model or horse for any rider that want safety style and good looks.  He has a lot of chrome.

Limo

Limo is a 15 year old safe, beautiful horse that is a great ride.  Limo is safe, and responsive and will trail ride all day.  This horse stands 15 hands and has all the looks and chrome, yet the attitude and safety that we insist in our horses. Limo loads, is good for the farrier, has good ground manners, is easy to catch and is a nice safe all around horse.  This horse would make a great trail horse to enjoy the countryside without having to worry about spooking.  He has a solid head on his shoulders and is fun to ride.  He has a great neck rein, good stop and is very sensible. Limo stands 15 hands.

Johnny

Oh boy what a nice horse!.  Johnny has passed all the tests with flying colors.  He has been on two big trail rides, and has both experts and novice riders for a test.  This guy is for real.  You can ride him with a halter and lead rope, or experience his great handle and working ability with full tack.  Johnny is a former "turn back" horse that did rodeo work.  You can rope, side pass for gates and enjoy a good safe trail ride on his this horse.  Johnny is a registered QH. His ground manners are great, good for the farrier, and easy to catch in the pasture.  His pasture manners are good and he is not aggressive but a good get along guy. This is a good one.

Poco

Poco has passed all the tests with flying colors.  Poco is an 8 year old registered QH that is cow bred to the max.  He is quiet, gentle and very responsive, but is the kind of horse that you can sit and talk on, and he does not fidget.  He is very low key in his responses to things which makes him a good trail horse.  We put a novice rider on him for a test and he was just wonderful.  Poco stands just under 15 hands. He has good ground manners, gets along well with other horses and is generally a nice solid horse that can give someone joy on the trail and at home.He has gone on the big park ride.  He loads well, stands tied to the trailer, is completely spook proof on the trail and has a wonderful attitude. We recommend him for anyone that wants a good safe fun horse with an exceptional brain.

 Our Designer horses!

We would like to ask our prospective buyers to give us a good description and outline of the horses you are looking for.   We would like to encourage you to email us, or call us telling us exactly what you are looking for in a horse. There are eight criteria we look at when we determine if we can "match" you to a horse. 1. Safety.  2. The need. What do you want to do with the horse? Trail ride, ranch ride, versatility play days etc.  3. What is your skill level? 4. Where are you keeping the horse? This allows us to determine the suitability of our horses to YOUR environment. 5. Are you going to haul your horses to ride? Obviously easy loading is a MUST. 6. What are the pasture mates? 7. Who is going to ride the horse? Children, family or single rider need is a question we ask. WHEN WE DETERMINE WHAT KIND OF PARTNER YOU NEED, THEN WE CAN SUITABILITY FIND YOU A MATCH. 8. What price range are you looking in ?

We ask you to come to Tonkawood for an evaluation ride so we can see what kind of partner you want and need that way with high gas prices you do not waste a trip for a horse and we can make a good match for you. Please note that we are not seeking to critize your riding as we get all kinds of riders, but the overriding goal is to have you enjoy the horse, the sport and the love based on your needs and skills. If you come to Tonkawood and do an evaluation ride, we will then seek a partner for you, determine the suitability for you and then send you pictures.  If you live to far, then please give us as much information as you can so we can make sure we show you a candidate that suites your needs and suites the horse. If you like the horse, after an evaluation ride, we send pictures, and if the look suites you, we will then HOLD the horse for you until you can come to see it. We also ask that you check out our sold column and give us an idea of the type of "look" you like.  That cuts down time, effort and money by pre qualifying a horse for you.

Our horses must meet the standard of safety we require for all of them. No horse can be perfect at all times, and circumstances can occur that render the horse unsuitable or the rider not in tune. Some horses are better suited to individual needs than others, that is why we are asking you to give us a list so we can determine if and how a horse will suite your needs.
