This nice horse is a great horse. Ms. Pam said he is the "ultimate" kid beginner horse. He has a kind attitude, and is very forgiving to any rider.  He has a beautiful slow jog and a great slow pretty lope. Chico is 12 years old and stands just under 15 hands. We recommend him for a family or anyone that wants a great safe ride with a nice well trained willing horse. We will send videos upon request.

This cool horse is a former ranch horse.  Muddy loves to go and ride the trails. He is good in the ring and the riders all love him.  Muddy stands tied quietly, loads like a dream, and has a great mind for any type of riding.  We recommend him for any rider that wants a good safe trail horse for the family.  A first time rider would love him as he is very forgiving and waits for his rider to decide the "plan". He has a great neck rein, a good stop and will stand and open gates. He is a gem. Muddy is 14 hands and is 14 years old.

The beautiful Paint horse is a gentle and kind as a horse can be.  He loves people and is so easy to work on it is amazing.   He is a good one folks. Color is 13 years old and stands just over 15 hands. He has been a working ranch horse. He has passed all his tests with flying colors and is a good safe nice mount for anyone to ride.  If you want a pretty horse with lots of color, Color is the one.

Cody is back on the market after the Burnet County Queen contest.  Cody was given to one of our favorite riders Amber to compete in the contest.  She won three ribbons on him and he was a gem.  Cody was hauled to the rodeo grounds for practice and then to the competition.  He and Amber did the grand entry, did individual competition in figure eights, flying lead changes and general horsemanship.  Nothing bothered him with cannons, fireworks, music, bucking horses, noise, people and then the grand night of awards.  All the Queen contests came in in from of the crowd waving and galloping the arena.  Cody was perfect and a complete steady horse.  Cody is 12 year old and is great in the arena or on the trail.  He stands 15 hands.(sale pending)

This absolutely beautiful Buckskin horse is a gem.  He came from a family that our buyer Les got him from.  The kids that had been riding no longer were interested in horses so he became for sale.  This gem is wonderful.  He is kind, well trained for trail riding and family fun.  Funny is 13 years old and stands at 15 hands.  If you want the Buckskin of your (sale pending)

This beautiful black horse has proven to be a gem.  He went to the rodeo grounds yesterday with Pam and her "queen" contestants. Our kids are competing this y ear again in the local Rodeo Queen contest.  The little ones compete for Duchess and then Princess as the age goes up and the older ones for Queen.  They must demonstrate horsemanship in riding and in general knowledge.  It is a good test for our horses to see how they behave away from home.  Mighty was perfect for one of our kids to practice with. He behaved like a perfect gentleman. More pictures will follow. Mighty is an 11 year old. Mighty stands at 15 hands. He has had some reining training.  Yesterday Pam rode Muddy to see what he knew in the reining world. WOW she was amazed.  We knew he had reining training but was he wonderful.  Pam did roll backs, quick stops, side passed down the arena and flying lead changes.  This is quite a horse folks.  If you want a great ride and tons of fun with a safe nice horse look at him.  We recommend him for an advanced beginner.  He is fine for a beginner rider but is so cool that someone should use him for what he knows. We have some great videos for review to send anyone interested in Mighty. (sale pending)

Cheyenne is a 12 year old horse that was a pickup horse in the Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming. Cheyenne stands at 15 1 hands. A pickup horse is one that picks up the cowboys from the bucking horses and the bucking bulls.  Wow he has seen a lot! He is smart, sharp and absolutely broke to death. He can turn on a dime, stop, open gates, side pass and is fun to ride. This is one of the smartest horses to come to Tonkawood. His first day he was like "where is the cowboy" and what is going on?  The second day he said, "wow this is easy, I love it" and has been a STAR. This horse is a gem. He adapted to a new life quickly and loves going on the trail. He took to his ring work and all the tests without a bobble. THIS IS A NICE ONE!! He has the Cheyenne Frontier Days brand on his shoulder.  Too Cool!!! If you want a smart safe horse that is a wonderful ride, look at him. Yesterday we put an eight year old rider on Cheyenne and he immediately geared down and made a judgment on his rider.  Pam recommends him for an intermediate rider. He would be great for anyone that wants to check fences, rope a cow and just a plain nice horse to own. These types of smart horses are hard to find.  This is a good one folks! Cheyenne is getting ready for the Burnet Queen contest and he has been a star with the kids. He went to the rodeo arena for practice and just knew his way around with no muss and no fuss. What do we mean by sale pending?

Sale pending means that the horse has been sold and is out for the 7 day period.  Please see our guarantee.

We are so proud of our new owners and the good horses they have.  These safe guys are the backbone of the industry, hard to find and deserve a good home with loving families.  We are happy to say that all our "guys" are well placed and that makes our job fun and much easier.  Thank you all.

We are especially proud of our horses that are going out of state as the trust and our references are giving our horses a great opportunity to serve in other states as well as here in Texas.

Pat and Pam

 Our Designer horses!

We would like to ask our prospective buyers to give us a good description and outline of the horses you are looking for.   We would like to encourage you to email us, or call us telling us exactly what you are looking for in a horse. There are eight criteria we look at when we determine if we can "match" you to a horse. 1. Safety.  2. The need. What do you want to do with the horse? Trail ride, ranch ride, versatility play days etc.  3. What is your skill level? 4. Where are you keeping the horse? This allows us to determine the suitability of our horses to YOUR environment. 5. Are you going to haul your horses to ride? Obviously easy loading is a MUST. 6. What are the pasture mates? 7. Who is going to ride the horse? Children, family or single rider need is a question we ask. WHEN WE DETERMINE WHAT KIND OF PARTNER YOU NEED, THEN WE CAN FIND YOU A MATCH. 8. What price range are you looking in ?

We ask you to come to Tonkawood for an evaluation ride so we can see what kind of partner you want and need that way with high gas prices you do not waste a trip to look for a horse and we can make a good match for you. Please note that we are not seeking to critize your riding as we get all kinds of riders, but our goal is to have you enjoy the horse, the sport and the love based on your needs and skills. If you come to Tonkawood and do an evaluation ride, we will then seek a partner for you, determine the suitability for you and then send you pictures.  If you live to far, then please give us as much information as you can so we can make sure we show you a candidate that suites your needs and suites the horse. If you like the horse, after an evaluation ride, we send pictures, and videos and if the look suites you, we will then HOLD the horse for you until you can come to see it. We also ask that you check out our sold column and give us an idea of the type of "look" you like.  That cuts down time, effort and money by pre qualifying a horse for you. We can also send you a VIDEO for review before you make the trip.

Our horses must meet the standard of safety we require for all of them. No horse can be perfect at all times, and circumstances can occur that render the horse unsuitable or the rider not in tune. Some horses are better suited to individual needs than others, that is why we are asking you to give us a list so we can determine if and how a horse will suite your needs.
