Cactus (in evaluation)

This beauty is an eight year old Quarter Horse.  Cactus stands 14 3 hands and has been a heading horse and a family horse.  He is beautiful and our buyer said he is a "people" horse. He loves people and loves attention.  Watch for him to finish this week.

Oreoo (in evaluation)

This gorgeous black and white Paint horse just came in from our buyer.  Oreo is 8 years old and stands 14 3 hands.  He goes both English and Western.  We will finish his evaluation this week but so far so good.

Angel

This extremely safe kind registered horse is exactly the kind of horse we love to represent here at Tonkawood.  Angel is a 12 year old gelding that goes back to Doc O Lena.  For all you knowledgeable folks on Quarter Horse breeding you know he was a star.  The most important thing about Angel is his disposition.  He is one of those horses that judges his rider and behaves accordingly.  If a great hand is riding him he is a "blast" according to Ms. Pam to ride.  Great stop, good handle, will side pass, open gates and very responsive.  If a child gets on, he gears down and takes care of them.  He is a gem. He stands at 15 hands. (sale pending)

Mr. B

This wonderful gentleman horse is a gem.  When we get these guys we are thrilled.  Mr. B. is a 16 year old gelding that was a heading horse. He is now retired and is taking our riders everywhere safely and with a amazing attitude.  This horse has been there done it and nothing we have tried will spook him or rattle him.  He is perfect for anyone that wants a great family starter horse to ride the weekend ranch, put the grandkids on, or the kids for that matter.  He is a great horse for any child as he is safe and sound and has amazing manners.  These great horses are the backbone of the horse industry and we grab them anytime our buyer can find them. (sale pending)

Cosmo

This darling horse is the ultimate family children's horse.  He stands 14 3 and is a chunky model.  He has been ridden by children for the last two years in our buyer's neighborhood.  He has gone to the store, played "cowboys and Indians", and has had as many as three children riding him bareback at one time.  Our buyer Les was able to buy him from her neighbors as the children are now getting "into other things".  He was originally a good ranch horse.  Cosmo is 11 years old. You will see our 8 year old Miss Evie, riding him. We recommend him for anyone to ride and have fun with. He has a good handle, a good stop and most of all a very very forgiving mind and good manners. Nothing we have found seems to bother Cosmos. New alert!!! Cosmo went to a horseshow this Sunday at the Austin Coliseum and WON his class with one of Pam's students riding him.  He was a perfect gentleman and performed like a pro although his background is ranching and neighbor children riding...... this is a good good horse.

Perry

Ok folks, here is another show stopper.  We have a connection with a fancy show stable in the Dallas area that donates some horses to Common Ground. These  horses have been major show horses on the A Hunter circuit.  Perry is one of these.  He was a champion Hunter in that tough division for years. he WAS ELECTED HUNTER HORSE OF THE YEAR NATIONALLY! FOR TWO YEARS IN A ROW. He is a Hanoverian Warm blood that was imported from Germany. He stands 16 3 hands.  His owners have now donated him to Common Ground to retire from the circuit.  He is extremely gentle with amazing manners and training.  He is ready for a new life of trail riding, light jumping and great ring riding.  He is sound and in great shape. He is not to be shown again on the A circuit as part of his donation.  These great owners love this horse and want the perfect home for him. We recommend him for any rider as his kind disposition and way of going are safe and calm.

What do we mean by sale pending?

Sale pending means that the horse has been sold and is out for the 7 day period.  Please see our guarantee.

We are so proud of our new owners and the good horses they have.  These safe guys are the backbone of the industry, hard to find and deserve a good home with loving families.  We are happy to say that all our "guys" are well placed and that makes our job fun and much easier.  Thank you all.

We are especially proud of our horses that are going out of state as the trust and our references are giving our horses a great opportunity to serve in other states as well as here in Texas.

 Our Designer horses!

We would like to ask our prospective buyers to give us a good description and outline of the horses you are looking for.   We would like to encourage you to email us, or call us telling us exactly what you are looking for in a horse. There are eight criteria we look at when we determine if we can "match" you to a horse. 1. Safety.  2. The need. What do you want to do with the horse? Trail ride, ranch ride, versatility play days etc.  3. What is your skill level? 4. Where are you keeping the horse? This allows us to determine the suitability of our horses to YOUR environment. 5. Are you going to haul your horses to ride? Obviously easy loading is a MUST. 6. What are the pasture mates? 7. Who is going to ride the horse? Children, family or single rider need is a question we ask. WHEN WE DETERMINE WHAT KIND OF PARTNER YOU NEED, THEN WE CAN SUITABILITY FIND YOU A MATCH. 8. What price range are you looking in ?

We ask you to come to Tonkawood for an evaluation ride so we can see what kind of partner you want and need that way with high gas prices you do not waste a trip for a horse and we can make a good match for you. Please note that we are not seeking to critize your riding as we get all kinds of riders, but the overriding goal is to have you enjoy the horse, the sport and the love based on your needs and skills. If you come to Tonkawood and do an evaluation ride, we will then seek a partner for you, determine the suitability for you and then send you pictures.  If you live to far, then please give us as much information as you can so we can make sure we show you a candidate that suites your needs and suites the horse. If you like the horse, after an evaluation ride, we send pictures, and if the look suites you, we will then HOLD the horse for you until you can come to see it. We also ask that you check out our sold column and give us an idea of the type of "look" you like.  That cuts down time, effort and money by pre qualifying a horse for you.

Our horses must meet the standard of safety we require for all of them. No horse can be perfect at all times, and circumstances can occur that render the horse unsuitable or the rider not in tune. Some horses are better suited to individual needs than others, that is why we are asking you to give us a list so we can determine if and how a horse will suite your needs.
