Clyde

Now if you are looking for the ultimate confidence builder and a great great horse, Clyde is the one.  He is the ultimate trail horse yet his ranching background hold him in good stead around cows and ropes. This horse is amazing. He is an older ranch gelding that is 16 years young.  He stands just under 15 hands. He is sound, has a great big stout body and is absolutely safe and great to ride. This horse has actually been hunted off of.  His mind is amazing and his stamina and good confirmation will insure him for a great ride for many years.  This is what we call a "Daddy".  These kind of horses are worth their weight in gold.  He loads, is great for the farrier and just a wonderful representative of a good solid ranch horse.

Yaga

Yaga is a nine year old registered Paint.  He stands 14 3 hands and is a quiet gentle trail horse.  He belonged to an older lady and she is no longer able to ride.  We were able to purchase him on the recommendation of a good friend that runs a big ranch.  This ranch does some large trail rides, cattle work, and is a working ranch.  Our friend boarded this horse for the family and called us.  If he recommends a horse, we listen as he is a great horseman and knows the ability of this horse.  Yaga will work a cow, go on good safe trail rides and is a gentle fun horse to work around.  He loads like a dream and is a pleasure to be with. We recommend him for any rider. (sale pending)

Star Bar

This is an exceptional mare.  Star is 11 years old, extremely quiet and safe.  She has been a working ranch horse and well trained and cared for.  She will bow on command, and LOVES people.  When you approach her she will nicker to you. This big bodied horse will carry any rider safely and with ease. Pam rode her all over the ranch bareback and he just loves to get out and see things. Her color is beautiful and her disposition matches. (sale pending)

Docs Copper Stopper

Doc is a gorgeous registered Dunn.  His color is amazing. He is 7 years old and is a safe, gentle low key guy.  He has been working ranches and has the best attitude.  He will open and shut gates, goes over anything we ask and is a very accommodating horse. Doc has his entire life ahead of him to please his new owners.  He loads, is great on the ground, very peaceful in the pasture and he is easy to work with. Doc stands 15 1 hands. (sale pending)

Diesel

Oh my gosh, this guys is beautiful and so quiet and smart.  Diesel is a 15 hand QH that has done ranch work his whole life.  He is 14 years old, big and stout and has amazing legs and feet.  These ranch horses are bred to hold up.  Nothing seems to bother this horse.  He has a quiet mind, a willing attitude and is great to work around.  He loves a bath! He loads like a dream, and his pasture manners are excellent. This is a good one! His color sells him and I have shown you a picture of his unusual eyelashes. The color is beautiful. We are so proud of our new owners and the good horses they have.  These safe guys are the backbone of the industry, hard to find and deserve a good home with loving families.  We are happy to say that all our "guys" are well placed and that makes our job fun and much easier.  Thank you all.

We are especially proud of our horses that are going out of state as the trust and our references are giving our horses a great opportunity to serve in other states as well as here in Texas.

 Our Designer horses!

We would like to ask our prospective buyers to give us a good description and outline of the horses you are looking for.   We would like to encourage you to email us, or call us telling us exactly what you are looking for in a horse. There are eight criteria we look at when we determine if we can "match" you to a horse. 1. Safety.  2. The need. What do you want to do with the horse? Trail ride, ranch ride, versatility play days etc.  3. What is your skill level? 4. Where are you keeping the horse? This allows us to determine the suitability of our horses to YOUR environment. 5. Are you going to haul your horses to ride? Obviously easy loading is a MUST. 6. What are the pasture mates? 7. Who is going to ride the horse? Children, family or single rider need is a question we ask. WHEN WE DETERMINE WHAT KIND OF PARTNER YOU NEED, THEN WE CAN SUITABILITY FIND YOU A MATCH. 8. What price range are you looking in ?

We ask you to come to Tonkawood for an evaluation ride so we can see what kind of partner you want and need that way with high gas prices you do not waste a trip for a horse and we can make a good match for you. Please note that we are not seeking to critize your riding as we get all kinds of riders, but the overriding goal is to have you enjoy the horse, the sport and the love based on your needs and skills. If you come to Tonkawood and do an evaluation ride, we will then seek a partner for you, determine the suitability for you and then send you pictures.  If you live to far, then please give us as much information as you can so we can make sure we show you a candidate that suites your needs and suites the horse. If you like the horse, after an evaluation ride, we send pictures, and if the look suites you, we will then HOLD the horse for you until you can come to see it. We also ask that you check out our sold column and give us an idea of the type of "look" you like.  That cuts down time, effort and money by pre qualifying a horse for you.

Our horses must meet the standard of safety we require for all of them. No horse can be perfect at all times, and circumstances can occur that render the horse unsuitable or the rider not in tune. Some horses are better suited to individual needs than others, that is why we are asking you to give us a list so we can determine if and how a horse will suite your needs.
