Bomb  Proofing

The term Bomb proof is an old horseman's term that mean the horse is deemed safe and reliable. Although any horse can have a bad day and the dynamics of horse and rider come into play, generally a "bomb proof" horse indicates that the horse has a good sound mind, reacts well to different situations and can generally be trusted to behave well and not overact to any situation. Our horses are judged on their ground manners, their reaction to the farrier, the vet, and confusing circumstances that can and will make a horse "blow up". We take them on the road, expose them to "scary trails" on the ranch, see how they react to dogs, traffic, kids on bicycles, and all the various things that go on in a family environment. They must stand tied well, not pull back, they must load in a trailer and must be good "family" members for our buyers.
